Availability:

  • Every Tuesday and/or Thursday: pick up from the Southside of Maui (7:30-7:45am) or meet at Maui Tropical Plantation at 8:00am.

  • Explore the summit of Haleakala National Park in search of endemic and migratory bird species.
  • Spot iconic Hawaiian birds such as the ‘Apapane, ‘I’iwi, ‘Alauahio, ‘Amakihi, Pueo, and Nene.
  • Enjoy a checklist of Maui’s bird species with their Hawaiian names.
  • Indulge in complimentary juices, fruits, snacks, and a full picnic lunch while learning about Maui’s ecology and history.

Important Notes:

  • Due to avian malaria, native honeycreepers are found at 7,000ft elevation. The tour also includes a visit to the summit of Haleakala to search for Nene, Pueo, and Chukars.
  • Be prepared for driving as part of the tour.
  • Dress warmly with a rain jacket and hoodie, as temperatures at Haleakala can be significantly cooler than sea level.
