Mokuho’oniki 2 Tank Scuba Dive Private Charter
The Mokuho’oniki scuba dive private charter is a 7.5-hour advanced-level dive experience departing from Ma’alaea Harbor in Haiku-Pauwela. This exclusive trip crosses the Pailolo Channel to reach Mokuho’oniki, a remote marine sanctuary known for schooling hammerhead sharks and pristine reef habitats.
Itinerary and Inclusions
The day begins at 6:30am with a meeting at Slip 14, followed by departure at 7:00am. The boat follows the West Maui coast to Kapalua before crossing the channel. Divers complete two dives at Mokuho’oniki, with a surface interval in between where lunch is served. The lunch includes fresh fruit, locally made granola bars, chocolate chip cookies, hot cocoa with marshmallows, soft drinks, and a catered meal. The return to Ma’alaea Harbor is scheduled for 2:30pm.
Equipment and Group Size
All necessary dive gear is provided and customized to guest needs including height, weight, and shoe size. The charter includes a guide, jackets, towels, and a maximum group size of six divers for a personalized experience.
Marine Life and Dive Highlights
This drift dive features abundant marine life including hammerhead sharks, dolphins, monk seals, and a reef famously called “Fish Rain” due to its dense fish populations. The site is a Marine Seabird Sanctuary, offering rare seabird sightings during surface intervals.
