Mauna Kea Sunset & Stars Tour
Experience an unforgettable sunset from the summit of Mauna Kea, nearly 14,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Located centrally on Hawai‘i Island, Mauna Kea offers unobstructed horizon views, clear skies, and dry air ideal for stunning sunsets.
After sunset, enjoy guided stargazing with a computerized Celestron telescope and green laser pointer to identify stars and constellations. The tour includes light snacks, hot chocolate, and provides a heavy-duty hooded parka for warmth.
The tour duration is 7-8 hours depending on the meeting point, with departures from Kailua-Kona, Waikoloa Beach Resort, or Onizuka Visitor Center. The group size is limited to 12 people. Children under 13 are not permitted due to altitude restrictions.
Warm clothing such as long pants, sweaters, and closed-toe shoes are recommended.
