Stand-Up Paddle Lesson Overview
The stand-up paddle lesson in Kihei introduces you to the popular water sport known as SUP. Originally called “beach boy surfing,” this activity combines outrigger canoe paddling skills with surfing techniques. The lesson begins on flat water where you learn to balance on oversized, stable boards that are larger than traditional surfboards.
What to Expect During the Lesson
During the 1.5-hour session, you will learn how to use a long shafted paddle for propulsion and steering. The instructor teaches different paddle strokes to help you turn and move efficiently. Catching waves is the next step after mastering flat water balance and paddle control.
