Explore Kalapana, a former fishing village and residential area on Hawaii’s Big Island partially destroyed by the Kīlauea volcano in 1990. Located in the Puna district, 32 miles south of Hilo, Kalapana once featured secluded beaches, warm natural pools, and tropical plants. Visitors can see the lava fields and learn about the area’s volcanic history.
This private 4-hour tour is customizable and managed in a Chrysler Pacifica with a maximum of 5 people. You may choose where to spend your time, with shorter stops at other locations. Pickup and drop-off locations can be arranged when booking.
Each stop includes time to explore the scenery and history briefings. Food and bathroom availability will be noted at each location.
