The Big Island Birdwatching tour provides a 9-hour immersive experience focused on endemic Hawaiian birds and native plants. Guests are picked up and dropped off at their place of lodging for convenience.
Bird Species and Natural Environment
Explore the State Forest Reserves in search of unique endemic birds such as I’iwi, Apapane, Amakihi, Elepaio, Alawi, Akiapolaau, Akepa, Omao, Pueo, Nene, and I’o. Many of these species are found nowhere else in the world but the Big Island of Hawaii. Learn about the native plants and their relationship to these birds during the guided tour.
Tour Amenities and Inclusions
Enjoy a picnic-style lunch surrounded by the scenic beauty of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Snacks including trail mix, fruit snacks, granola bars, beef jerky, chips, and chocolate are provided along with all non-alcoholic beverages such as water, juice, soda, hot tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Guests receive a Patagonia rain jacket, Nano puff jacket, Nikon ProStaff binoculars, and Black Diamond hiking poles. A complementary photo package with 20-25 professionally edited photos is shared via Adobe Cloud for easy access while traveling.

The group size is limited to 7 guests. Guests receive a full refund if canceled at least 72 hours prior to the tour.
