Basic Keelboat Sailing Lessons (ASA 101) in Honolulu

This course is designed for beginners to safely sail and dock a sloop-rigged keelboat of 20 to 27 feet in light to moderate winds (up to 15 knots) and sea conditions in familiar waters. You will learn to helm boats designed for beginning sailors and become familiar with safety equipment, points of sail, “rules of the road,” docking, and sailing terminology.

  • Course Length: 1 or 2 days depending on class size, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Pricing: $795 per person for shared class (up to 4 people), $950 for private class (up to 4 people), plus tax
  • Includes logbook, registration fees, certification fees, and a 1-year ASA membership
  • Skills taught: basic sailing terminology, helm commands, sail trim, buoyage, seamanship, safety, and basic navigation rules
