Join a public fishing charter in Eleele, Kauai, on the vessel Pi’ikea, which accommodates up to 6 people. The SHARE tour requires a minimum of 4 participants to confirm; you may pay for additional space to secure a trip.
Once aboard, a safety briefing is provided before departure. Fishing officially begins as the boat exits the outer break wall. The route is determined by weather, recent fishing reports, and captain experience, ranging from 1-2 miles to 12-15 miles offshore depending on conditions.
Most fishing is trolling with artificial lures, occasionally using dead bait, chunk bait, or surface jigging. Live bait is caught early in the morning when used.
