Basic Keelboat Sailing Lessons (ASA 101)
Basic keelboat sailing lessons provide foundational skills for new sailors to safely sail and dock a sailboat in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. This course is designed for beginners and covers essential sailing knowledge.
Course Details and Schedule
The course lasts 1 or 2 days, running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Classes accommodate up to 4 people, available as shared or private sessions.
Certification and Materials Included
Tuition includes the logbook, registration fees, certification fees, and a 1-year membership to the American Sailing Association (ASA). Students learn to skipper sloop-rigged keelboats approximately 20 to 27 feet long.
Skills Covered
Participants become familiar with safety equipment, points of sail, rules of the road, docking procedures, and sailing terminology. The course emphasizes hands-on experience at the helm.
